WELCOME MRS. TIFFANY THOMPSON
Mrs. Tiffany Thompson is Coalfield’s New School Counselor!
I am very excited to meet you all. I am new to Coalfield this year, but I am not new to Morgan County. I have been living here since 2014.
This will be my 10th year as a counselor, with 7 years as a school counselor and 3 years as a mental health therapist. I graduated with a BA in Psychology from Maryville College in 2012. I completed my MS in School Counseling at the University of Tennessee in 2014.
What does your school counselor do?
- evaluates school and student data outcomes
- helps students evaluate their own interests, abilities, and skills
- helps students develop personal goals
- helps students create plans for their futures
- individual counseling
- small group counseling
- crisis response services
- makes referrals for outside counseling services or assistance
- consults with parents and teachers to share effective strategies that support students
- collaborates with parents, professionals, and community members to support student success
- supports academic, social-emotional, college, and career development for ALL students
- advocates for student needs
- eliminates barriers to achievement
- high school scheduling
- classroom guidance lessons
- administers the Pre-ACT and ACT
- maintains student records and transcripts
- AP Liaison
If your student needs counseling services, please reach out. We currently have a Ridgeview offering in-person behavioral health services weekly. We also have telehealth available through Morgan County Medical Center. Sometimes there is a waiting list for these services, but I am always happy to help you find local providers in our area that can help.
