Our Coalfield School Story

Our Coalfield School Story continued this week with a humble acknowledgment that we are able to do all things through Him who strengthens us. Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬ ‭
I am grateful for Ms. Sara Foust and Mr. Peyton Tinker, along with their students, for their willingness to participate in an opportunity for growth.  They had literacy consultants, supervisors, and administrators observing their instruction this week.  These two teachers and their students humbly and graciously allowed these observers to critique their classroom instruction and provide feedback for opportunities to grow.  I also appreciate Ms. Kristan Conlon Headrick, Ms. Kristi Jackson, Ms. Karen Flowers Watson, and Ms. Jessica  Neeley as they have also humbly and graciously allowed observers from the state department, Central Office, and school administrators to critique their classroom instruction for an opportunity to grow.  Many of those teachers had no idea they were going to be observed by these folks and each were very welcoming and, not to mention, very impressive in their abilities.  All of these interventions are an effort to help our students achieve at a higher level and I’m thankful that we have a staff who want to see our students and our school excel and be stronger.
Ms. Susan Bates and Ms. Susan Long led our PreK students in their annual STEM project of building leprechaun traps in hopes of catching Leon the Leprechaun 🍀 this week.
Our CMS STEM students installed the new benches that they designed and built.
Our spring sports teams were very busy this past week.  Our #2 state ranked CHS Baseball team collected several wins this week beating 2 other state ranked teams and falling in a close one to a 3A ranked team.  Our CMS Baseball team split with Sunbright.  Our CHS Lady Jackets opened up their season coming up short to some tough competition against Meigs County and  Gordonsville. Our CMS Lady Jackets were also busy on the diamond this week with a tough loss to rival Wartburg.
Please continue to keep our school, staff, students, and their families in your prayers.
