The Coalfield School Story continued this week thankful for God’s grace & provision so that we can have the opportunity to “excel in every good work”. “And God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8
We are grateful for everyone who supported our students through donations, encouragement, and giving of their time and energy so they could have a memorable experience at the State Tournament. Thank you to staff who came together and filled roles at school so that our young ladies could have support in Murfreesboro. We are really proud of our coaches and student-athletes for their accomplishments, but it took a supportive community and a flexible staff to make to make it all possible…for that we are thank God and give Him all the glory.
Our STEM students have been hard at work replacing the benches in front of the school. They have removed the old ones, dug holes, mixed and poured concrete for piers. They will begin installing the new benches this week. They have also been learning, hands on, about circuits and how to create them and how they work. Mr. Basler’s class was learning about the Inca civilization. Our ELA teachers had visitors, as part of a grant, who observed instruction to gather data to help them grow so that our students can grow in achievement. I am thankful for the staff who are willing to try and get better so that our students can reach higher levels of achievement. Our math teachers have been involved with this program for a while now.
My hope, as a staff, is that we always have a desire to learn and try to be better for our students. After all, isn’t that what we ask of our students…to try and to have a desire to learn?
I’m thankful for our teachers and staff who model this philosophy.
I’m also thankful for our high school students who model this to our younger students. Kaleb Langley, our Valedictorian, was caught by a staff member giving back to our younger students. I love this!
Out of all the wonderful things I’m grateful for this week, our Bible Release program was the most exciting. This program is part of the Elgin Children’s Foundation that works with the school and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church to provide an opportunity for elementary age students to go once per month and learn about Jesus. Only students who have parent permission can participate and are bused to the church each month. This past week 13 of those students made professions of faith in Jesus. I’m thankful for the work God is doing in our school and community. Please continue to pray for our school, students, staff, and their families. Pray specifically for these 13 students that God will use people around them to help guide them in the faith.
