Our Coalfield School Story

Our Coalfield School Story continued this week relying on the Grace of God; thankful for His Devine Power in our weaknesses.
He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭9‬ ‭
Ms. Shelia Harvey and I, along with supervisors from the Central Office and a consultant from State Department of Education, conducted learning walks this week. With a focus on mathematics, we observed an 8th grade math class, a 4th grade math class, and an Algebra class.  Our teachers or students did not know they were going to be observed.  These were unannounced and designed to help improve on instruction and not be punitive in any way.  Our goal is to help increase the number of students who are proficient in mathematics.  As always, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting each of these classrooms and observing our awesome teacher engaging with our students.
Ms. Kelley Brooks completed a book study she has been doing with a group of students after school.  She has also filled in for Ms.  Jenn Tyl as Ms. Tyl recovers from ankle surgery.
Our Lady Jackets Basketball team won a 2nd consecutive District Championship this week.  They also had a big win in the first round of the Regional Tournament.  They will play at Harriman next week in the tournament looking to bring home a 2nd consecutive Region Championship.
Coach Josh Wright was named our boys’ high school basketball coach this week.  Coach Wright will do double duty as girls head coach as well.  He will be assisted by Coach Jason Hill at the high school level.
Coach Hill named his assistant coaches for the  Coalfield Middle School Boys Basketball team.  Coach Spanky Austin Swint will return as an assistant, Coach Ryan Hill, and Coach Cody Hill will also assist at the middle school level.
Please keep our staff, students, and school in your prayers.  Specifically pray for Zeke Stewart, Coach Zack Stewart and Bree Ariaz-Stewart.
