Our Coalfield School Story

It’s been awhile since I’ve shared the Coalfield School Story.  I have enjoyed seeing others, who experience our Story, share the positive energy.  As I have said many times, our Story is not a perfect one, as no school story is, and we will always face our challenges and strive to improve . However, while doing this, we will celebrate and recognize the good things associated with our school and community.
The past couple of weeks we have been in and out of school due to inclement weather conditions. The days we were able to be together allowed our school family to experience some wonderful things.
Ms. Tiffany Deanne Thompson added a beautiful baby girl to our family.  We can’t wait to meet River. We will miss having Ms. Tiffany with us as she will be on maternity leave until April.
We recognized our senior basketball players and cheerleaders.  Our senior girls basketball player and cheerleader Emerson Nichols surprised the teacher who had most impacted her journey at Coalfield, Mrs. Hannah Medema. Emerson presented Ms. Medema with one of her basketball jerseys and other gifts of appreciation.
Ellie Evans showed off her bakery talents making a birthday cake for another student to celebrate his birthday this past week.
Our All Corps program was recognized on the Morgan County Schools webpage for the positive influence it has on school and students.  This program is run by Ms. Dee Dee Harrison Wallace, our Academic Dean, and her phenomenal assistant Ms. Pamela Fears Lay. These ladies help meet requirements of the 3rd grade retention law and work to identify students who might need just a little more tutoring to help them achieve proficiency in ELA and Math.
Ms. Casey Bass and Ms. Cathy Bird posted some cool photos of their students doing lab work.
Ms. Shelia Harvey and I were both blessedto be able to get into multiple classrooms this week.  We love observing our amazingteachers interact withour students and see our students engaging in the curriculum.
Please continuously keep our students, staff, and school in prayers.
