The Coalfield School Story continued this week with some encouraging things happening.
Multiple times this week we had single digit absentees in elementary and middle school. One day we had only 12 students absent in high school. Folks, this is strong stuff. I am so proud of our students and parents for making attendance at school a priority.
During our severe weather event this week, our PreK was at lunch and had to shelter with the middle school. I was so happy to hear that our middle school students who were sheltering with our littles went out of their way to comfort our little guys. They began singing “Jesus Loves Me” to them. This resulted in the PreK singing to them as well. Strong 💪 stuff by our kids!
During band practice, our older students stepped up and took the beginning band students under their wing to help them. They matched themselves up with students who were learning to play the same instrument as them and worked with them during practice time. Thank you again to Ms. Heather Jackson and Ms. Casey Bass for helping out with these students.
We continue to have folks in pur community stepup and feed our athletic teams supper before they leave for games. Strong stuff!
Our vision at Coalfield is simple: “To be a strong school.” Things like this encourage me the most to believe we are on the right track. Thank you to all our students, staff, parents, and volunteers for caring enough to show up and do the work that must be done for our school to be strong.
Please continue to pray for our students, staff, their families, and our school as a whole.
