Our Coalfield School Story continued this week with many opportunities for staff and students to demonstrate a commitment to being a strong school. Our high school students took EOC exams and our staff continued to provide a structured environment as our school continued with its third consecutive week of testing. Our high school had their prom this past week . A huge thank you to Ms. Casey Bass for her hard work to organize the prom for our students . Also, thank you to all tho staff who helped chaperone the prom. Our staff is made up of a lot of One-Heartbeat folks. Middle school students had their “Good Faith” reward day. This reward was given to them for their commitment to give their best effort on the TCAP. Students had to meet certain criteria such as attendance, behavior, and academic effort during testing. Our elementary students will have their reward day soon. Our STEM students setup the garden beds for classrooms that ordered them. Ms. Melissa Morales, with Communities in Schools, rewarded classrooms with the top attendance with some Chik-fil-a this week . She and Mrs. Carmen Jackson Hines coordinate to provide an attendance award each week. Our overall attendance has been very strong this year. Thank you to all our staff for putting together a nice lunch for one another this past week.
Our spring sports teams continued to have strong showings on the diamond this week. High school baseball won their 4 th consecutive district championship and will host the regional tournament this coming week. Our high school softball team will host the district tournament this coming week as they finished the season in first place. Our CMS softball ladies had some big wins in their district tournament to advance to the championship game on Monday. We had several volunteers supporting our student-athletes this week. A big thank you to all those who work so hard to prepare the fields so that the kids can have a nice venue to showcase their talents. Also, to our volunteers who give of their time announce the games and operate the scoreboard for games. I also want to thank all our coaches and volunteer coaches for giving so much time and effort to our kids. Thank you to Mr. Levi McDaniel and other bolunteers who risked life and limb to change bulbs in the softball scoreboard. This week is teacher appreciation week. If you have an opportunity this week , reach out to our teachers and let them know how much they are appreciated.
Please continue to pray for our school, students, and staff as we close out this last month of school.
