Our Coalfield School Story-Week of April 21st

The Coalfield School Story continued this week with TCAP testing all week.  Our students and staff persevered through two full weeks of testing. Our theme for two weeeks was “Opportunity”.  Opportunities to shine usually come wrapped in adversity.  Testing can be a difficult time for students and staff.  We encouraged our students to focus on testing as an opportunity to do their best and nothing more. We faced a lot of challenges with several staff members needing to be absent due to unexpected circumstances that was out of their control.  I am so grateful to have a One-Heartbeat staff who never flinched and jumped in to fill the voids for their colleagues and our students.  You cannot put a value on that kind of attitude and flexibility!  Folks, our people at Coalfield School are special and our students are very lucky to have them in their corner.
Our spring sports team managed to get a few strong outings in despite inclement weather throughout the week .  We recognized our senior spring sports student-athletes as well.  One of our senior student-athletes, Mr. Luke Treece, also our Salutatorian, was recognized by ABC news for his exceptional work on the field and in the classroom.
Our STEM students delivered the garden beds they built to classrooms this week. Our 4th and 5th graders were learning about the holocaust as they completed a project in Social Studies .
Serenity and Liam earned another belt in their martial arts class.  One Bank presented one of our seniors, Mr. Aiden Poole a scholarship check for $5000.00.  Aiden plans to attend Tn Tech and study Computer Science.
Please continue to pray for our students , staff , and school.
