Our Coalfield School Story continues despite inclement weather. First, I speak on behalf of our school family in saying we are saddened by the passing of Sheriff Wayne Potter. Our hearts go out to his family and fellow officers.
Our CMS boys represented our school well finishing 3rd in the state in their classification. Congratulations to the team, cheerleaders, and coaches for an outstanding season.
Our CHS Lady Jacket basketball seniors shared a heartwarming experience with their most impactful teacher. Each senior surprised a teacher that has had an impact on their life with one of their jerseys. Thank you to Coach Josh Wright for organizing this encouraging moment for our teachers and students.
Our Lady Jackets also handly defeated Oliver Springs this week to advance to the championship game of the district tournament on Monday.
Our teachers and students were also doing some great things in the classroom as well. I had the chance to observe Mrs. Beth Jones Roberts 8th grade ELA class and see how she and her students are using a cool writing program to practice using ELA skills they are studying. This was such a fun and engaging time for students and staff.
Mrs. Dee Dee Harrison Wallace and Mrs. Pamela Fears Lay were hard at work providing guided instruction while students worked on skills in math and ELA. These two ladies also worked hard to complete the Top Achievement banner for high school by adding student names.
Mrs. Karen Flowers Watson was also busy instructing and engaging her Algebra students when I visited her classroom.
Our PreK had the annual Valentine dance. Thank you to Mrs. Susan Bates, Susan Long, and all others who helped make this a special day for our littles.
Our CMS STEM students continued to work on their woodworking projects for the silent auction that will go toward supporting Mr. Brown and his family. Thank you to Matthew Breeden for donating neede tools to help our students.
Ms. Carol P Jackson and her awesome staff continued to do a fantastic job feeding our students and staff. These ladies work really hard to make sure every student has an opportunity to eat breakfast, lunch, and snack. We are thankful for each of them .
Mrs. Erin Walls Miller organized a very special, successful cake walk fundraiser between the Oakdale and the Coalfield communities to raise funds for Mr. Paul Brown and his family to help them during this difficult season of life they are going through. We are truly grateful for the time and effort Ms. Erin and others put into supporting this heartwarming event.
Please continue to remember our school , staff, students , and their families in your prayers. Also, please remember to keep Sheriff Wayne Potter’s family in your prayers as well.
