Our Coalfield School Story continued this week with more challenges but as usual we will focus on all the positives that I saw in our school. Ms. Tabitha Jones-Davis came in early to make sure things in the office were in order for those filling in for her that day. SRO D Michael Kruggel continues to go above and beyond to help students feel safe and happy at school. The cafeteria ladies harvested some of the lettuce grown in the cafeteria. It was very good. Mr. Peyton Tinker had 40 high school students join him for the high school God Squad. Elementary students gathered to listen to the National Park story teller. Ms. Susanne Hitchcock Pemberton did some outdoor reading with students in library class. Ms. Sara Foust creative writing class wrote some cool poems. Some were given to me as the students wrote about our mission to be (one-heartbeat). I hung them in my office. Our homecoming queens and their families continued to work so hard to raise money for our school. We won a $5000.00 grant that I applied for through T-Mobile’s Friday Night Lights 5G program. The money will go toward the funds we are raising to replace our school sign. The Barkley runners and organizers joined us this week at both the CMS and CHS football games. These folks have done so much to support our school. We are truly blessed by their support. Our custodians continue to do a fantastic job keeping our school clean. The hallways were shining as I left school late Friday night. Our coaches and student-athletes competed well this week. Volleyball had a big win over Oliver Springs, CHS Football beat a tough Harriman team 53-27. CMS Football beat Wartburg 27-14.
I’m proud of our staff and students as they continue to persevere through all the challenges we face each week. They always provide so many positives through it all. Please continue to pray for our students and staff.
