Our Coalfield School story continued this week as students had the opportunity to shine on the TCAP and EOCs (End of Course exams in high school). I received so many good reports from teachers and staff that students were giving good effort. It was encouraging to have different students coming up to me each day saying they tried their best on their tests. TCAP will continue on Monday for students and high school EOCs will continue through out next week. Please continue to encourage students to not be stressed, just do their best.
Our 3rd grade students, who met criteria for Top Achiever on the practice TCAP they took last year as second graders, were rewarded with pizza 🍕 for lunch. Ms. Dee Dee Harrison Wallace organized this time of recognition for these top achievers. Ms. Dee Dee, Ms. Jessica Beck Stubbs, and Ms. Pamela Fears Lay put together treat bags for students during TCAP as well.
Ms. Lana Hensley created a neat shirt to encourage her students for TCAP.
On Monday, the day before TCAP started last week, I visited Ms. Tiffany Walls 2nd grad class as they were reviewing 3D shapes with a fun group activity.
Ms. Bass’ Chemistry class were engaged lab work. Ms. Cathy also posted videos on her Facebook page that you can view.
Ms.Shelia Harvey observed Mr. Mike Smith’s class this week. They were engaged in an activity to help them better understand genetics.
Ms. Lauren Thais, our guidance counselor, submitted the artwork of one of our talented students, Gabi Anderson, for the congressional art contest. Gabi’s artwork will travel to Chattanooga to go through the first round of judging and if she gets approved she could possibly have her artwork displayed in Washington DC.
We were blessed to have Mr. Ken Freeman speak to our middle and high school students Wednesday after testing had finished. Mr. Freeman’s message kept our students fully engaged the entire time. His encouraging words and amazing story was a message all young people need to hear.
Ms. Benca Lowe Flippen continues to bless our teachers with her adoptive-a-teacher program. Please see the picture of her post and make a teacher’s day with some delicious goodies from Flippen Cakes.
Our CMS softball team honored our 8th graders this past week. These young ladies have had an amazing career in middle school. We look forward to watching them do great things the next four years as high school student-athletes.
Please continue to pray for our students and staff and their families. Specifically pray for Izzy Blalock and her family. Also, continue to pray specifically for our students as they continue testing this coming week. Hope everyone has a strong and restful weekend.
