Our Coalfield School story was so encouraging this week. Again, I will not deny that we have many challenges to overcome as a school, but our story will continue to focus on the positives that encourage us to persevere through the challenges.
Our goal is to wrap the decisions we make for our school around our mission to grow our “One-Heartbeat” culture in order to bring our vision of a “Strong School” to full fruition. Our “One-Heartbeat”mission encourages the idea that everyone associated with our school and our community is responsible for the culture in our school; that we are all in this together and have a shared vision of a “Strong School “.
Our staff and students worked hard this week to generate excitement and enthusiasm about the spring testing that will start this coming Tuesday. Our classroom teachers worked very to get in as much review as possible with their students. I appreciate the patience of the high school teachers as I allowed for some interruptions in an effort to encourage some career exploration on Friday. Coach Jones invited Be Pro Be Proud along with Clinton Utility Board to setup on campus with their mobile labs. High school students were able to visit the labs and virtually experience careers in the trades and STEM.
I also allowed for some class interruptions to encourage students to do their best on the upcoming TCAP. Students and staff combined to do a TCAP pep-rally where TCAP top achievers from last year were recognized. These students were also rewarded with a field trip to Pizza Inn and bowling afterwards. Ms. Dee Dee Harrison Wallace, Ms. Jessica Beck Stubbs, and Ms. Pamela Fears Lay worked hard to get the top achievers names on the new banners. We hope to encourage more students to get their name on the banners with this years TCAP.
Addison Armes and Lydia Bates volunteered to read The Energy Bus for Schools to our elementary students to help them better understand our mission and vision at Coalfield School. These young ladies were phenomenal and I received sever comments from teachers complimenting these young ladies about how well they did with our littles. Thank you girls for encouraging positivity in our school.
WECO recognized several of our student-athletes with awards this week for their outstanding efforts. We celebrated Abbi Swint with her RSCC Dance Team signing in the Library this week as well. Abbi had several family and friends in attendance. We are proud of all of our students-athletes and the effort it takes to maintain academics and athletics.

Please continue to pray for our school, students, staff, their families. Pray specifically for our students and staff during the upcoming spring testing. And continue to lift Izzy and her family up in prayer.
